History
Located northeast of Richmond City, Hanover County is bordered by the Pamunkey River to the south. Coming up on its 300th anniversary, Hanover is a county with more than enough history to keep you exploring. Patrick Henry’s name marks multiple historical landmarks, including the home in which he grew up and 960 acres of land where he planted his roots. In addition, the Civil War Trail has many stops throughout Hanover.

Things to Do
Step beyond the history and you’ll discover a range of family-friendly activities. Always popular, the King’s Dominion amusement park has roller coasters and a water park, plus carnival games and children’s rides. When the weather is warm, discover Hanover’s rural and agricultural roots at the Hanover Tomato Festival or Ashland Strawberry Faire. Looking to stay active? Hanover has adult athletic programs and youth sports. Want to explore their many parks? Check out their county parks and recreations page to see a full list.
Because Hanover has the lowest real estate property tax rate in the Richmond Region, large businesses such as Bass Pro Shops, FedEx Ground, and The Vitamin Shoppe have moved in to take advantage of the opportunity. To see what is going on in Hanover, visit their county website here.
